Sling Inspection Guidelines
WEB DAILY INSEPCTION
To safeguard against injury, property damage and load protection the following procedure should be followed.
Perform a visual and feel the entire length of the sling looking for any of the following:
- Tag discrepancies (missing or illegible identification and working load limits.)
- Burns (acid or caustic)
- Charring or melting on any part of sling
- Snags, cuts, tears or holes
- Broken/Worn stitching or any load bearing splices
- Abrasive wear
- Any knots in any part of sling
- Any brittle or stiff areas on sling
- Any discoloration of sling
If any of the above conditions are present remove the sling from service immediately, destroy and discard.
Never attempt the temporary repairs of damaged slings, it is very important that slings are properly inspected regularly.
